We're excited to announce that the Glennville Sweet Onion Parade will once again be awarding winners in various categories for parade floats and other entries.
In sticking with the Glennville Chamber's theme this year, parade float/entries will be judged on a patriotic "Comm-UNITY" theme. Whether to you that means red, white, and blue, or onions joining hands as friends, use your imagination and the sky's the limit!!
*Stay tuned here and on our Chamber Facebook for more information on categories and specific judging criteria to be announced very soon.

• Registration will be located in front of South Tattnall Middle School at the tent/table in front of the parent drop-off “roundabout” at the front of the school.
South Tattnall Middle School
721 E. Barnard St.
Glennville, GA 30427
• Everyone will need to come to the registration table as soon as you arrive, where you will "check-in" and receive a card with your line up number. Please display that card/number in an easily visible location for line-up and judging.
• The only exception for registration purposes is fire trucks, which will line up on Cowart St., and soldiers/color guard and TCHS band students. These entrants only will find & join their groups at Barnard Park.
• Floats and trucks with trailers, please find your designated parking area on Barnard Street, then walk to the registration tent to let us know you've arrived.
• From the registration tent, you will be directed to your designated parking area for lineup.
• Pre-registration is HIGHLY recommended. "Walk-up" entries the day of the event MAY or MAY NOT be taken, depending on length of parade, type of entry, etc. Walk-up entries are at the discretion of the registration workers. Walk-up entries are responsible for paying all fees at that time by cash or check.
**Even if you have your entry number ahead of time, please come to the registration table anyway to let us know when you arrive.
• Parade line up starts at 8:00 am. ALL entries must be in place and ready to go no later than 9:30 am. Please try your best to be on time. It will be very busy that morning with closed roads and a lot of traffic. If you arrive late, you may be added to the back of the line-up or skipped if we are unable to fit you in order.
• The line-up will be submitted to presenters prior to Saturday, and any changes could potentially cause issues for all entries, so please understand no changes can be made the day of the parade.
• If you know you will be unable to attend due to an emergency or have urgent changes, please let us know ASAP.
• Line Up: All floats and large trailers will line up on Hwy 144/Barnard St. facing Glennville (west). We will have markers on the side of the road with the float name & number attached to it. Please park your float/trailer in its designated place, then walk to the registration table to check in.
• Everyone else (cars/trucks, ATVs, walking, etc.) will be directed to their waiting area by the registration table and volunteers.
• Please only throw authorized objects in the parade such as candy, beads, etc. (no sharp or heavy objects). Water bottles may be handed out by walking members in the parade, but not thrown from vehicles. If in doubt, please ask (or just don’t do it). Everyone's safety is our top priority.
• Shriners will line-up in the "teacher" (back) parking lot as a group. Someone will be in that area to line all Shrine Club participants up in order, then you will ALL exit as one group together at the appropriate time.
*This whole parking lot is designated for Shriner use. This is the ONLY exception to allow personal vehicles to be parked at the school that are not riding in the parade. Please make sure not to block entries that will need to move.
• All approved ATVs will be given a specifically colored ribbon at registration. Ribbon must be tied onto the ATV in a readily visible location at all times to participate. Unapproved ATVs are restricted and law enforcement will be asking any unapproved ATVs to leave the festival/parade area, so those authorized for the parade must have ribbon easily visible and drive safely at all times. ONLY THOSE APPROVED AT REGISTRATION OR PRE-REGISTRATION ARE AUTHORIZED AND CONTACT INDIVIDUAL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS IN THEIR ENTRY GROUP.
• ABSOLUTELY NO HORSES ARE ALLOWED IN THE GLENNVILLE SWEET ONION PARADE DUE TO INSURANCE REASONS.
• Parking for personal vehicles and trailers that need to unload (not in the parade) will be available at the Onshore/City auditorium parking lot which is only a few blocks away.
Glennville City Auditorium
207 S. Tillman St.
Glennville, GA 30427
• Please do not unload or park non-parade vehicles, including ATVs, etc., on the middle school property or in the Department of Transportation parking lot! These areas will be VERY congested and are only for parade travelling vehicles!
IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT GOING TO BE GOING THROUGH THE PARADE, IT CAN NOT BE PARKED AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL OR ALONG SIDE/STAGING ROADS.
• Please pick up any trash in your staging area prior to the start of the parade. We want STMS and all of Glennville looking as good or better than we found it!
• Restrooms will be available for parade participants only at the football field concession stands (in back of school). Please leave restrooms as clean as you found them. No entrance is allowed to any other part of school grounds. This is a courtesy the school is allowing us for participants, and we want to respect that.
• With the festival moved downtown, the parade route goes directly down the main strip full of not only parade watchers, but festival goers and lots of vendors also. It will be crowded! Please drive cautiously.
• It is a tight fit in some places. Please make sure parade entries fit within the designated dimensions to travel these roads and make all turns, as well as under low power lines in places.
• Anyone acting in an unsafe manner will be asked to leave, no questions asked. We want to have a great time, but don’t want anyone hurt or any accidents.
• We will have several volunteers scattered through the area helping line up & work the parade. Parade Staff will be wearing a bright AnchorPointe "Volunteer" t-shirt, and will be assisting with the line-up. Please feel free to ask for help from these volunteers if needed.
• We need everyone to please be patient and cooperative; we have many entries in the parade and a lot going on in a short amount of time.
• Please be respectful to these volunteers as well. Many are young adults or teens, and are working hard to help make this parade a success for everyone.
***Anyone not obeying rules or being disrespectful to parade staff volunteers, or other parade entrants can and will be asked to leave, or further action may be taken depending on the severity.
